How To Use a Charcoal Chimney Starter

These things are incredible. You will never have to use charcoal fluid again!
Simpy turn the starter upside down (so the shallow reservoir with the holes is up) and loosely stuff three pages of newspaper into the bottom reservoir. Three pages, not three sheets…
Turn right side up on the coal tray of your grill (remove the grill itself) and pour in whatever brand charcoals you like in the amount you think you will need.
I usually find that filling it 3/4’s to the top is plenty of coals for my grill, and my grill is one of those Walkabouts on wheels:
Then, simply use a match or lighter and light the paper on the bottom through the cutout holes.
In about 15 minutes, your charcoal should be going strong. Use caution when handling the lit coals. You will have to grab the handle and turn the chimney over inside the grill onto the coal tray. Windy days and low branches above are additional dangers. Be careful if children are present… they should be a good 5 feet away.
