About

The grocery isles are peppered with fresh fruit, vegetables, meat ,and dairy, but a vast majority of the items for sale are sold in cans, boxes and bags… and unless you’re gonna cook from scratch every night of the week you’re gonna end up with a lot of those items.

This website is dedicated not only to good recipes with fresh recipe ingredients, but also to doctoring up what comes in that can, box, or bag.

Most people (certainly these days) are experiencing the high cost of a meal for even just 2, much less a family of 4 or 6…This means coming up with some creative, and tasty recipe ‘adaptations’ to what is inexpensive,  already made, and ‘decent enough’ for you.

Know This: This is not a health food site whatsoever. This is a real world, gotta feed the kids, gotta million other things to do kind of website, and while I would prefer to be healthy, sometimes what’s good for you tastes like crap!

This is a ‘recipe in progress’ kind of site where you can add your own two cents in on each recipe, showing your own “Dr. It Up” cooking prowess! Recipes are sometimes a means to an end. Here, you can learn, teach, and connect with other people who share the same approach to a recipe as you do. As a starting ground.

The recipes are either from my own head, or recipes from the box, bag or can with a little doctoring up of my own… and recipes that I have doctored up from books, (and more books) and the Web. I am a Cook, a food hobbyist, and a food artist - a Cookbyist if you will. I have no formal training, (trial by fire can in no way be considered formal), I just have an ever increasing curiosity about flavors from around the world.

Come back often, where you can see what I am cooking… or perhaps not cooking, and get others tips, tricks, and ideas for Doctoring up many of the items you find ‘ready made’ on the grocery store shelves! Sometimes, I may be just  ranting, but it will always be about food, food costs, newly tried recipes, ingredients… Steal Deals at the grocery store…

I like food, and I like writing about it… What can I say?

I am a Food, Recipe, Kitchen Gadget Geek, and proud of it!
